@WTTC welcomes the return of Global Entry.
Trusted Traveler programs like Global Entry are a winâwin for security and travel facilitation. They help authorities focus resources where they matter most while giving pre-approved travellers a faster, more seamless journey.
With global events like the @FIFAWorldCup 2026 on the horizon, smart border solutions will be essential to support growing travel demand.
We commend U.S. Customs and Border Protection (@CBP ) for continuing to expand trusted traveler programs and innovative technologies that make travel more secure and more efficient.

Travel & Tourism remains one of the worldâs most resilient economic sectors.
The current conflict is estimated to be impacting international visitor spending across the Middle East by around $600M per day, highlighting how vital the sector is to global connectivity.
But history tells a powerful story: tourism demand following security-related incidents can recover within two months when governments and industry work together.
The World Travel & Tourism Council @WTTC commends governments across the region for their swift action supporting travellers, maintaining operations and working closely with the private sector.
Strong leadership and collaboration will help rebuild traveller confidence and accelerate recovery.

This International Womenâs Day, we celebrate the incredible women who power the global Travel & Tourism sector. đâď¸
Despite facing disproportionate job losses during the pandemic, women continue to be at the heart of the industryâs recovery and growth. Today, Travel & Tourism remains a vital source of opportunity and livelihood for millions of women worldwide.
In 2024 alone, the sector directly employed 52 million women, rising to 126 million jobs when including indirect and induced impactsârepresenting 9.3% of total global female employment.
Women make up nearly 40% of the Travel & Tourism workforce, with even higher representation in many regions. In Europe, women account for 47% of the sectorâs workforce, while in Central and South America the share reaches 47.7%, exceeding the proportion of women employed across the wider economy in those regions.
The hospitality industry is particularly significant, with 49% of jobs held by women in 2024. These roles span every corner of the sectorâfrom hospitality and aviation to tour operations, destination management, and entrepreneurship.
While progress continues, the data also highlights that barriers remain in lower-income economies, where womenâs participation in Travel & Tourism is still significantly lower. Addressing these gaps will be key to unlocking the sectorâs full potential.
By supporting womenâs employment, Travel & Tourism contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Gender Equality (Goal 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), and Reduced Inequalities (Goal 10).
Today we celebrate the women shaping the future of travelâwelcoming the world, strengthening communities, and driving inclusive growth across the globe.

@WTTC research shows that the Middle East has a strong track record of bouncing back quickly after periods of conflict.
The region remains a safe and highly popular destination, home to millions of expatriates whose friends and families travel there regularly, and a tourism hotspot in its own right.
With some of the worldâs most important airline hubs, the Middle East continues to be a vital lynchpin of global travel and connectivity.
A swift recovery also depends on governments around the world updating their travel advice as soon as conditions improve. Travel advisories are closely followed by both travellers and insurance companies, so it is essential that guidance reflects the latest realities on the ground and does not hold back destinations due to slow updates.
WTTC remains in close contact with our members across the region to understand the evolving situation on the ground and to offer support.
We stand with the global travel and tourism community and all those working across the Middle East as they continue to support recovery and resilience.
