In a first-of-its-kind initiative under CSR, HAL (@HALHQBLR) today launched a HAL Endowment Scholarship Scheme in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections of the society. “HAL recognises that true progress begins with equal access to quality education,” says Dr. D. K. Sunil, CMD, HAL. “We believe that no student should be denied the opportunity to study at a reputed institution like IIT Madras due to economic constraints. By supporting deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds, HAL is unlocking their potential and empowering them while fostering academic excellence. This Endowment Scholarship Scheme is our way of giving back to society and contributing to nation-building.” A MoA to implement this initiative was signed between Mr. Pradeep Kumar, General Manager (HR), HAL and Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean-in-charge–Alumni & Corporate Relations, IITM in the presence of Dr. D. K. Sunil, CMD, HAL, Dr Kamakoti, Director (IITM), Mr. M. G. Balasubrahmanya, Director (HR), HAL, Dr S D Premkumar, Independent Director, HAL and others. The core issue I see with jet engine co-development is what I call the ‘Rafale syndrome’. You invest billions, enter into a partnership, and six years down the line you’re still stuck in the expediting and dependency phase. We saw it during Mirage upgrade, we saw it in Project 75, We saw it in Rafale ISE and now I fear that in jet engine. You can’t even raise concerns publicly because it risks souring strategic diplomatic relations. This creates a cycle where national interests take a back seat to geopolitical sensitivities.

Today, the Department of State is adding The Resistance Front (TRF) as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).  TRF, a Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) front and proxy, claimed responsibility for the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam attack which killed 26 civilians. This was the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks conducted by LeT. TRF has also claimed responsibility for several attacks against Indian security forces, including most recently in 2024. These actions taken by the Department of State demonstrates the Trump Administration’s commitment to protecting our national security interests, countering terrorism, and enforcing President Trump’s call for justice for the Pahalgam attack.    TRF and other associated aliases have been added to LeT’s designation as a FTO and SDGT pursuant to section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224, respectively. Indian Army Statement | Indian Army has carried out successful trial of the indigenously developed Air Defence System "Akash Prime" at an altitude of over 15,000 feet in eastern Ladakh. Akash Prime system will form the third and fourth regiments of the Akash Air Defence Systems in the Indian Army. Akash Prime is equipped with an indigenous active Radio Frequency (RF) seeker for improved accuracy. The missile can be deployed at heights up to 4,500 metres and can take down targets at a distance of around 25-30 km.

#AmarnathYatra | The Indian Army has launched Operation SHIVA 2025 to secure the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, deploying over 8,500 troops, integrated anti-drone grids, UAV monitoring, enhanced medical facilities, disaster response teams, and convoy tracking systems. In close coordination with CAPFs and civil agencies, this initiative aims to ensure a secure and seamless pilgrimage. However, this heavy deployment underscores the persistent threat environment. With Operation Sindoor presently paused, there’s a distinct possibility of it being reactivated should Pakistan-backed groups attempt any misadventure. There are two facets to this posture: 1️⃣ Force deployment is reactive in nature, stemming from credible intelligence inputs about terror operatives seeking opportunities to strike with the aim of either deterring or neutralising such attempts. 2️⃣ In either scenario a) A foiled attacks or b) A successful infiltration and follow on.. Operation Sindoor remains a powerful option that could be swiftly revived. 🔴 The flaw lies in the strategic passivity of this approach : we are effectively waiting for them to act, fully aware that if even a small operational window appears, they will attempt to exploit it. A more assertive posture, combining deterrence (which is happening) with continuous pre-emptive actions across the LoC (paused) and internal counter-terror grids (in place), would reduce reliance on reactive surges and protect operational initiative.
