RT by @alpha_defense: #WATCH | Delhi | Director General Military Operations Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai says, "88 hours is what it took for the enemy to come and ask for a cessation of hostilities. You're well aware of that. For that call to be made by my counterpart, then. We achieved our political and military aims. We hit nine targets across the breadth of Pakistan. This is a maturing of India's doctrine beyond the binaries of peace and war. This was a fusion of military precision and diplomatic agility, informational superiority and economic leverage... I'm speaking about the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 being put into abeyance the moment the terror attack was perpetrated at Pahalgam... Our military actions were targeted, controlled, non-escalatory, and we openly acknowledged them to maintain our credibility. We also made sure that we put into place critical and significant conventional measures to apply pressure. We carried out some significant and telling forward deployments, extending our punitive reach to unprecedented levels..."

A couple of years ago, HAL had achieved around 55% acceleration on the HTFE-25 engine (current status remains unknown). Even if we take that as the baseline today, it would likely take another 2-3 years before the engine is ready for flight testing and certification. 5 years is doable ? Question is intent :)

RT by @alpha_defense: A good day to remember the Air Marshal, and his family who have dedicated their lives to service. His son, Lt. Simon, and my father were shipmates (if you can call a Naval Air Station a ship). While one brother inspired me to become a naval aviator, another was instrumental in my rescue. In an unfortunate incident, Lt. Simon’s aircraft crashed, leading to a massive search and rescue operation that remained in the headlines for many days. My mother would read the news to me, and my father would often recount how highly everyone regarded Lt. Simon. I was only a child then, but that story inspired me to become a naval pilot. Fast forward many decades to September 2018. I was lying in my boat with a fractured spine, awaiting rescue. The Navy immediately launched a P-8I to locate me and direct ships to my position. That decision—to send an aircraft to operate at such a far-off latitude—was taken by Lt. Simon’s younger brother, Adm. Philippose, who was heading Naval Aviation at the time. Apparently, Lt. Simon was an inspiration not only to me but to his brother as well.

RT by @alpha_defense: It’s more complex than it appears. Traditionally, air forces operate with separate aircraft for air superiority, air defence, and strike roles. With the evolution of multirole fighters, however, aircraft began to perform all these roles. That’s why major air forces adopted a light-heavy combination: United States: F-16 and F-15 Soviet Union: MiG-29 and Su-27 China: J-10 and J-16 Countries that had NATO backing went for aircraft like the Rafale or Eurofighter Typhoon, knowing that F-22s and F-15s would be available when needed. Similarly, the US Navy operates the F/A-18 with the assurance of land-based F-22 and F-15 support. India’s case was different. We weren’t aircraft makers, so we procured whatever we could. Our doctrines evolved around platforms like the MiG-29 and Mirage 2000. We never truly experienced what an agile and versatile F-16 (XUV 300) could offer until we inducted the Rafale. It wasn’t your typical XUV 300 it was more like moving to a Kia Seltos Turbo. Ultimately, what the Indian Air Force envisions is an AMCA Mk2 (XUV700) in the heavy-medium category and a Tejas Mk2 (XUV 3XO) in the light-medium category with existing fleets serving as placeholders until we reach that goal. That, at least, was the vision during Air Chief Marshal R.K.S. Bhadauria’s tenure. So another XUV 3X0 category Nexon at that time made little sense.

RT by @alpha_defense: Have no idea who runs this handle. But it’s always fair to have views and counter views. 1. MRAD is a proven weapon. If it’s a direct import, let’s clearly say so. If the same weapon is being assembled in India (in earnest) with Indian components, there is 0 assurance that it’s the same weapon as the MRAD. Alternatively, let’s call it screwdrivergiri. It is indeed possible to just fit a couple of pins and assemble a full weapon from a CKD kit. Takes 5-10 mins per weapon 2. The SSS Defence SABER is now battle proven. It’s gone into export markets. The GoI knows it too. Plenty of markets where the local industry offers a variant that’s 90% of the best in class. They give their industry priority knowing fully well that the system will be serviced, spares available and self reliance boosted. Personally, I think we have too many guys selling gold plated American stuff and bad mouthing folks who really have done a lot of work in India. Let me inform u that the only suppressor that’s on Finnish SAKO rifles is Indian designed and made. Isn’t that a matter of pride or should that too be irrelevant. 3. P72 was released post AK 203 signing. It was pursued for the simple reason that Indian users should have an alternative and it’s now proven that delivery of the Russian weapon has lagged. Anybody has doubts on that ? Also, foreign markets abound for this caliber. So, when industry thinks in monetary terms and also provides a back up in stressful times, why should any indigenous producer have to justify ? 4. Foreign OEM’s have several decades of experience. Indian OEM’s (not screwdriver wielding folks) have less than a decade. Happy to state that we are a work in progress but no OEM has done what we have managed (3 sniper variants, 4 assault rifles, 2 special forces variants, 1 SMG, 1 pistol) in this time. Never asked for blind buying. Always asked for priority over foreign imports. Is that against national interest ? Last but not the least, Indian weaponry isn’t going to be perfect. For that matter, Americans and Europeans also make and sell us shit. The day we understand that, we’ll stop giving the gringo premium

Reports of Su-35 to Iran are interesting at multiple levels: 1️⃣ It gives Iran a credible answer to any intrusion into its airspace. 2️⃣ With its long range, the Su-35 can challenge carrier-based aircraft operating far from shore. 3️⃣ Its potent anti-ship capability adds a new layer of deterrence against threats emerging from the sea. 4️⃣ The key question : will Russia allow Iran to posture these jets against American vessels? 5️⃣ And equally important :will Tehran risk another escalation spiral, especially when both Washington and Tehran recently took deliberate off-ramps from conflict?

We watched funds drain into FGFA and MTA, only to receive nothing in return. We witnessed a service chief jailed over AugustaWestland. RT by @alpha_defense: Ngl this is an excellent move, here's one scenario why: Chengdu Aircraft Corporation senses a huge opportunity in the Indian market for AHCA program. Given the opportunity to gain billions in revenue, CAC India subsidiary is established. J-36 is then sold to IAF given this Indian firm has complete IP and/or just enough IC% ✅️ India gets a 6th gen Indian aircraft in a few years ✅️ CAC gets revenue & will then invest even more. Big boost to FDI. ✅️✅️ No delays due to R&D ✅️✅️ Ends monopoly of HAL, DRDO, TASL, Adani , NewSpace... You know, just all the bad guys. If this ain't aatmanirbharta, idk what is. (Fr if anyone can explain how this is actually good for aatmanirbharta, I'm all ears)

114 Rafales are best suited for us. We have done our homework in the MMRCA days. Any aircraft of that class would work, but Rafale is easiest to absorb : ACM AP Singh

RT by @alpha_defense: Delhi: Responding to ANI's question on the losses suffered by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh says, "...As far as Pakistan's losses are concerned...we have struck a large number of their airfields and we struck a large number of installations...Because of these strikes, radars at least four places, command and control centres at two places, runways of course damaged at two places, then three of their hangars in three different stations have been damaged...we have signs of one C-130 class of aircraft...and at least 4 to 5 fighter aircraft, most likely F-16, because that place happened to be F-16 with whatever was under maintenance at that time. Along with that, one SAM system has been destroyed...We have clear evidence of one long-range strike, which I talked about more than 300 km, which happened to be either an AEW&C or a SIGINT aircraft, along with that five high-tech fighters between F-16 and JF-17 class this is what our system tells us."
