AAA studios have entire teams of dedicated 3D artists who spend years creating the models for a game. Most indie devs are working solo and have a million things to work on besides art. So yeah the results aren't gonna be the same.

It also helps that Steam has a pretty good discovery algorithm. You can almost guarantee that your game will get seen, you just have to make sure it looks like something people want to click on and learn more about. Do that, and you're already one step ahead of asset flips and AI games.

Might as well throw in my take since I feel strongly about this. Just because a company made a game in a particular style 20+ years ago (and never since) doesn't mean they get to monopolize that gameplay forever. Yes, KH2 exists, but plenty of people want more KH2 style games and SE has zero intention of providing them. So an indie is filling the void, and we should be glad he is.
