Ending the scourge of violence against women and girls is a top priority for this Executive. We all share a responsibility to challenge the misogyny that allows these heinous crimes to continue.

Tackling health waiting lists, investing in schools and children with additional needs, making childcare more affordable, and building more homes – these are just a few of the key priorities in our proposed budget. I’m committed to working together with all parties in the Executive to deliver real and positive change in the lives of families, workers, and communities.

I am delighted that health and social care workers will receive a 5.5% pay increase. Our health and social care professionals are the backbone of our health service, and they deserve a fair wage for their hard work and dedication. I remain committed to working within the Executive to ensure that all public sector workers, including our teaching staff, receive the pay they deserve for the vital roles they play in our communities.

I welcome today’s High Court ruling - a public inquiry into the murder of Sean Brown must be granted. The British Secretary of State should fully respect the court’s decision and act immediately to establish a public inquiry without delay. I want to pay tribute to Bridie and the entire Brown family for their courage and determination over the past 27 years. Their relentless fight for truth and justice is remarkable.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of Karen Cummings this evening. A horrendous loss of life and another family left in grief. Together we must unite and say enough is enough. Violence against women and girls must end now.

I’m delighted that good progress is being made towards our goal of 10,000 students at Derry’s Magee campus by 2032. Economy Minister Conor Murphy has made the expansion of the Magee campus a priority, working alongside various experts and local people to turn this vision into reality. I’m committed to working together with all parties in the Executive to deliver on the Magee expansion and continue the positive transformation of the North West. The expansion of Magee will grow the economy, create better jobs, and provide better opportunities in life for families, workers, and future generations.

❤️ It was a privilege to meet these three inspirational and courageous women – Christine, Pauline, and Jenny – who shared their personal journeys with ovarian cancer. By sharing their stories, they’re not only raising awareness but also helping others feel less alone in their own journeys. Tonight, the Assembly voted to extend the protections that have shielded people here from the worst impacts of Brexit. MLAs who supported this crucial decision have ensured that we can continue to benefit from the economic opportunities of our unique access to both European and British markets. This will ensure better economic prospects for workers, families and communities.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jody Gormley. Throughout his illness, Jody showed incredible strength, courage, and resilience. His empowering words will continue to inspire and help so many others as they navigate their own battles in life. My thoughts are with his family and his many friends throughout the GAA. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

This afternoon, I met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and again made the case for fair and proper funding for our public services. Our public sector workers deserve fair pay for the vital work they do, and people deserve services that are properly funded to meet their needs. I will continue to stand up for workers, families, and public services, and work together with all parties to bring about positive change in people’s lives.
