RT by @moneillsf: Sinn FĂ©in is banning exploitative zero-hours contracts to give workers clarity on both their hours and wages each week. This is part of Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald’s bill to deliver the most progressive workers’ rights legislation the North has ever seen. @CArchibald_SF

Today’s decision by the British government regarding the murder of Seán Brown is cruel and inhumane. The Brown family has only ever sought truth and justice for their beloved husband and father. Throughout their decades-long campaign, they have consistently shown immense courage and dignity. I will continue to stand with Seán’s widow, Bridie, their children, and the community of Bellaghy until they have truth and justice for Seán. The British government must urgently respect the Courts decision and establish a public inquiry now.

Today I joined political and religious leaders from across the world to pay my respects at the funeral of Pope Francis. We said goodbye to a leader of great stature, immense courage, and deep humility — a man who carried forward a powerful vision for a fairer, more just, and peaceful world. It falls to all of us to honour his legacy by building that better future for our children and grandchildren, in every corner of the globe. Ar dheis DĂ© go raibh a anam.

I am proud to be attending the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday, paying my respects on behalf of everyone at home who cherished his leadership and looked to him as a spiritual and moral guide. Pope Francis will be remembered as a leader of deep humility, compassion, and courage with an unwavering commitment to justice and peace. His passing is deeply felt in Ireland and across the world—and his example of leadership is one we should all take inspiration from.

Irish unity is about building a better future for everyone who calls this island home. A future where every worker, family, and community has the opportunity to thrive. An Ireland defined by hope, fairness, and limitless possibility. It’s about unlocking the full potential of our people and resources to create something much better than what has gone before. Now is the time to write the next chapter in Ireland’s story—together, as one. A new, united Ireland for all.

I am very sad to learn of the death of Pope Francis, a man of great faith and a strong, determined leader. During his visit to Ireland in 2018, he spoke passionately in support of the peace process. He also marked the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, giving thanks for the peace it delivered in Ireland. Pope Francis showed compassion on LGBT issues and condemned right-wing extremists and he was ahead of many world leaders in speaking out against the Israeli war in Gaza. His efforts to reach out and acknowledge past wrongs should also be recognised. Catholics right across the world, including here in Ireland, will feel his loss deeply. I extend my condolences to Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, Eamon Martin, Church leaders here in Ireland and throughout the world.

Today, we remember the generations of Irish men and women — ordinary people with extraordinary courage — who, over many centuries, dedicated their lives to freedom. I stood with leaders from across Ireland at the GPO in Dublin, honouring their sacrifice and enduring legacy. We remain committed to fulfilling the vision declared in the 1916 Proclamation — an Irish Republic founded on equality, justice, and peace. We owe it to families, workers, and future generations to be bold and ambitious in our vision, to build an Ireland full of hope, opportunity, and prosperity for everyone who calls it home. Let’s seize the historic opportunities ahead of us and together, let’s write a new and exciting chapter in our island’s story — a new and united Ireland.
