RT by @JonTonge: Very sad to hear about Alex Salmondā¦ an absolute giant who I saw oddly regularly as a cub journalist at the Observer, whose Wednesday night lock ins he would often attend with his great friend the former foreign editor Arnold Kempā¦ next time I saw him was my first interview as Sky pol Ed in August 2014 in the heat of the referendum debate where he was utterly uncompromising in his belief about the economic case for an independent Scotlandā¦ he gave generous tribute to the late Alistair Darling last year, and he deserves great credit for his political accomplishments in turning the SNP into a party of Government in Holyrood for such a long period of timeā¦ RIP.
