NEW: Former TD Noel Rock seeking to run for Fine Gael in Dublin North West Rock had turned down several approaches from Fine Gael HQ in recent months to run in the general election, but looks like they've twisted his arm.

Once President Higgins dissolves the Dáil (on the request of An Taoiseach) an election must be held within 30 days. The Minister for Housing sets the date for polling day (between 18-25 days after writ is issued). A General Election on November 29th would therefore be reliant on a dissolution between November 4th-11th. Worth noting that the said Minister Darragh O’Brien was standing next to Deputy O’Gorman when he made these remarks.
