It's always such a fun night, but extra special this year with the light that is Siobhán McSweeney at this month's @GIHNYU gala. A joy to celebrate the importance of literature, the arts, and the Irish community with so many friends in New York. Congratulations to all involved!

After 3 weeks in the US, a weekend of solitude in Fermanagh, bating salads into me, was glorious. This week, I'll be giving evidence to the communities committee at Stormont, speaking at the Imagine Belfast festival, and leading an NI Emerging Leaders day on advocacy.

My recent article for the Belfast Telegraph on citizens assemblies. 84 citizens delivered 38 policy recommendations via an assembly model in November. Politicians already committed to launching one assembly a year, so where are they? Why is civic society having to launch them?

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of delivering a guest talk at Villanova University in Philadelphia on effecting change from the ground up. Easy to feel disempowered in a divisive political landscape, but people are the drivers of real change. Great to meet so many people.

Fermanagh has had quite the influence on my husbands art. Since moving to rural Ireland, he has been rendering grass, flowers, branches, and tea into homemade paints and inks to create scenes. A physical piece of Ireland on the page!
