RT by @BarakRavid: יש מי שבערב ט' באב בחר לפזר שקר מתועב ועמוס שנאה ש"הליכוד הוחרם". הליכוד בשלטון בישראל בצורה מתמשכת 16 שנה, לבד משנה אחת. ברובן המוחלט היו לו שותפויות עם המרכז הפוליטי, מיאיר לפיד דרך משה כחלון ועד בני גנץ, גדי איזנקוט ורבים אחרים. במהלך השנים האלה, ובפרט מ-2015, נתניהו השניא את עצמו על כל שותף. כפי שהשניא עצמו על כל נשיא אמריקני, דמוקרט או רפובליקני, וכל מנהיג אירופי, מסוציאליסטים עד מנהיגי השמרנות באירופה. זה עניין אישיותי. רק שבמקרה של נתניהו והקואליציה, הוא יצר גוש מובהק שהוא לא מוכן לוותר עליו בשום אופן. הגוש הזה, עם הימין הקיצוני והחרדים, תועדף על ידו. בנוסף, הוא הפר הסכם רוטציה מפורש עם בני גנץ (ועוד על ידי אי העברת תקציב). כאשר גנץ ואיזנקוט ישבו בקואליציה בממשלת חירום, בלי לבקש תפקידים, נתניהו עשה הכל להעיף אותם אחרי כשנה. כי הם לא חשבו כמוהו וכי הוא פחד מהם (לאור המצב בסקרים). נתניהו לא מוכן ולא יהיה מוכן לוותר על בן גביר וסמוטריץ והחרדים- כי אז ייאלץ להפקיר את גורלו בידי אנשים הגונים. הוא חושש שלפיד, איזנקוט, בנט יהיו חלק מקואליציה, לא יסכימו אתו על כל דבר, לא יהיו משרתים מלחכי פנכה כמו פרשני 14, ואז הוא ייאלץ לשוחח ולהתפשר אתם. גרוע מכך: שהם יוכלו לפרוש מהקואליציה. ואז הוא "בגד" ב"שותפים הטבעיים" ומצד שני- בנט, איזנקוט וכו' יוכלו לפרוש מהממשלה. מי שרוצה ממשלת אחדות (להבדיל משקרים על "ממשלה רחבה") צריך לקוות שנתניהו יובס. אם יובס- סביר להניח שאיזנקוט או בנט ירצו ללכת לאחדות עם הליכוד. במצב בו נתניהו פרש, או ברור שלא יהיה ראש ממשלה. בכל מצב אחר, נתניהו ינסה למשוך לבחירות אחרי בחירות. עד שינצח. נתניהו לכן החרים, מחרים ומדיר את המרכז הישראלי, מסרב לממשלות אחדות, היה דרוש לחץ נמרץ כדי שיסכים לממשלת חירום, עושה הכל כדי לשמר את הגוש הטבעי עם החרדים כולל הפקרת הציבור המשרת. נתניהו מחרים. ומי שאומר אחרת, עלמא דשקרא זורם בעורקיו. יש פה משהו חריף יותר. רוב הציבור לפי כל סקר לא רוצה את ביבי כראש ממשלה. מותר להם לא לרצות שהמפלגות שלהם יישבו עם נתניהו. מותר להם. מי שקושר את גורלו באדם אחד, דמות אחת, שנים רבות כל כך, וזו מייצגת ומתמצתת את החברה הישראלית, השנייה או הראשונה- מאמץ שבתאות. ושבתאות נגמרת באסון.

Strategy begins by identifying the desired end state, and only then determining the military resources required to achieve it. Today, however, it appears that this logic has been reversed. Military escalation has become the objective itself rather than a tool to achieve one. The key strategic question therefore remains unanswered: to what end? President Trump can certainly expand the campaign against Iran. But one outcome is highly unlikely: forcing Tehran into submission. Iran is unlikely to respond to additional military pressure with greater concessions. Instead, it is more likely to escalate in response to every significant increase in U.S. military involvement. If the administration's goal is to return Iran to the negotiating table in a weaker position, expanding the campaign alone is unlikely to be enough. Achieving that objective would require a far greater and more sustained military commitment, including the willingness to deploy ground forces and accept the costs and casualties that such a campaign would entail. Even then, success would be far from guaranteed. If, on the other hand, the ultimate goal is to return to the same memorandum of understanding that has already been discussed, then it is worth asking whether expanding the conflict serves that objective at all. At the moment, the administration appears more focused on the question of how much military involvement the United States should undertake than on what strategic outcome that involvement is realistically expected to produce. What is already clear, however, is that the economic costs of a prolonged escalation will continue to rise regardless of the military path chosen. #iran
