I was late to this event. The Q train had derailed near my home, though I don't think anyone was hurt, and there were hundreds of workers onsite. I had seen them working on the tracks at the exact place of the derailment earlier in the week on my way to…
Solar Sounders workshop @ Whitney Museum of American Art - Manhattan
Published: September 14, 2026 00:00
This was a drop-in workshop to complete a solar-powered miniature synth using a breadboard and kit of parts: resisters, capacitors, solar panel, potentiometer, and the like. I'm sure the economics of this situation was that there is already a funded series…

So this was an 'insider's' exhibit masquerading as an everyman (everyperson) exhibit. What do i mean by that? Duchamp to the degree he's 'known', it's primarily for the concept of the readymade, and at the top, his "fountain" signed by R. Mutt. Then below…
Exhibition Closing of 502 Bad Gateway: Error is Shadow @ Flux IV - Queens
Published: August 29, 2026 00:00
This was a closing exhibition put on by an art collective, and the artists are friends who make work I like quite a bit. They use 3d printers, custom circuit boards, old reused hardware, paintings, and make animations in Blender and a video game in Love2d.…
Ximena Bedoya, Aaron Roche and Stranger Cat @ Figure 8 Recording - Brooklyn
Published: August 27, 2026 00:00
This was a show at the recording studio of somewhat well-known improv jazz dude Shahzad Ismaily. I guess he's doing okay for himself. It was nice. I joined in one of the groups, playing a 20 minute noise set. At first, as only 8 chairs and a bunch of…
Wild Inside screening @ Low Cinema - Brooklyn

Okay I came into this one somewhat skeptical. It's a documentary about the eurasian owl Flaco that escaped from the Central Park Zoo in 2023 after an unknown entity cut open a hole in its enclosure to allow it to escape. Flaco caught the imagination of New…

Unknown noise performance @ Punx 'n' Kweenz Festival - Berlin

Published: August 7, 2026 00:00
This was an unplanned noise show, at least on my part. I went to my first freiluftkino (outdoor movie screening) in Berlin, held in some hole in the wall place, and saw a Jarmusch film. Won't say much about the film beyond that it was kinda okay…
Open Projector with School for Poetic Computation @ Trust Support - Berlin
Published: August 5, 2026 00:00
This is a long-running event run by my friend and co-organizer from DIY spaces in New York City. It's not that different from the Show Us Your Screens event i went to last week at Offline. Basically, it's an 'open mic' but with your laptop, where you plug…
