What Eric Hughes, founder of the cypherpunk movement, wrote about cryptography in 1996 is even more relevant today - it applies to our right to run our own software and to communicate privately: "Unless there is a public concensus that people generally should be able to use their own cryptography, then such use will become marginalized. Legislatures will outlaw, the public will disapprove, and vigilantes will hunt down improper use. That, in my book, means we've lost."

RT by @SimpleXChat: 🚨BREAKING: We’re outside Number 10, handing Keir Starmer your message to reject digital ID. We refuse to be treated like barcodes, we will not live in a surveillance state, and their spin will not wash with us. This day belongs to all of us. It’s for the 175,000+ of you who stood with us and signed our petition and for the millions who added your voices to the Parliament petition calling for this to end.
