People already said almost everything wrt boss design but I think something worth noting here is that a lot of "lukewarm takes" people have actually have insanely radical design implications, they feel lukewarm to ppl because they're mainstream industry…

I think a fruitful thing for arcade designers to think about is how to make games enjoyable & clear to new players even if they only have 1 very hard difficulty mode, have no extra modes & force 1cc's. That's some good ass core design stuff

Been thinking a little bit about Hastes structure again and I wonder how much of it is the result of this positive feedback loop. Because theres not much additional risk to going fast, the game needs frequent resets which encouraged devs to break it up…
